I’ve been wanting to do a Manabi Straight trace for a while now, and the “victory pose” scene at the end of episode 4 was a good opportunity. I couldn’t have picked a more time consuming trace, but this is by far my favourite wallpaper yet. And biggest. 200mb, 79 layers and 78 paths.
I’m so happy with it, I’m even releasing it in an “I’ve-got-too-much-money-to-spend-on-monitors” 2560×1600 resolution! Enjoy.
(aka wild posts the shit he should have months ago.)
Anyway, here goes. First up is a random pic I found on 4chan. No idea on the series (if any) or artist. It was originally just to test what a Wacom tablet was like for tracing, but I never got around to posting it. Also one of my few recent-ish traces to be done in Illustrator.
Next is another pic from 4chan. This one seems to pop up in every single Samus/Metroid thread. But it’s hot nonetheless.
This last one is interesting for a few reasons. One being that it was my first ever trace. That’s right, it predates the Ai Yori Aoshi trace, as well as the (pretty ordinary) Megatokyo trace I did ages ago. It was to practice with Arach’s tute, which dates it at November 2003. The other interesting thing is it was done completely in Paint Shop Pro (apart from the tidy job). Which probably explains the interesting style. I like it anyway.
I tried to figure out a source from the original image, and after painstakingly translating the logo, found it’s from some sort of DOS adventure game called “Re*Saikuringu Day’s” [sic]. Google returns a few sites with absolutely zero info on the game. Here it is anyway:
All of the wallpapers I’ve made are now archived in the wallpapers section. In the meantime, here’s something new. More CC!
Enjoy.
So, welcome to my random blog of wallpapers, anime rants and other useless junk that I don’t expect anyone to read. Still under construction, but I’ll start posting up all my complete wallpapers tonight. Expect Manabi Straight Victory Pose goodness soon too.
