Well, I found a solution to my deinterlacing problem with the Kiddy Grade DVDs. Setting deinterlacing to “Motion adaptive” in the ATI control panel (I’ve got an X1950XT with Avivo) allows much better playback with Windows Media Player 10. In fact, it looks fantastic in comparison to anything I can get Media Player Classic to spit out.
I don’t like using Windows Media Player, but in this case, I’ll put up with it.
Edit: As Shiroi Hane kindly pointed out in the comments, it appears that the source is interlaced, and it’s been run through deinterlacing for the original R2 DVDs and FUNimation’s R1 release, but not Madman’s R4 DVDs.
So flicking through the Kiddy Grade 2 thread on the AnimeSuki forums made me realise that I was going to have no bloody idea what was going on when KG2 eventually comes out. I thought I may as well re-watch the original series, since I’ve got it on DVD and all.
Of course, being the anime whore that I am, I’d downloaded and watched the whole series via fansubs probably 12 or 18 months before it was available in Australia. But I enjoyed it, so I bought the DVD set when it came out. But since I’d already seen the series, I flicked through a few of the extras, then the DVDs went on the shelf. More KG2? Why not. Here’s the Pedobear-bait of the series, the new Lumiereish character if you will: Ascule.

In my last post, I promised Kiddy Grade 2 traces. Obviously the first had to be of Eclair.
Edit: I now feel rather silly, as someone on 4chan pointed out, this is actually the new lead character, Que-Feuilles. I don’t think anyone could blame me for mistaking her for Eclair with a new appearance though from not having read anything on the series. Will update the watermark and filenames when I get home.
Edit 2: Watermark and filenames updated.

I think I just wet my pants after realising the pilot for Kiddy Grade 2 came out four days ago.
As it turns out, the only torrents are raws, but someone’s put up a translation on YouTube. Unfortunately it’s typical YouTube quality, but if you’re hanging out for this new series as much as I am, then check it out.
Expect traces soon.
