Anyone who knows me well enough will know that Gainax’s recent track record does not sit well with me. Kono Minikuku no Utsukushii Sekai (This Ugly and Beautiful World) left a bitter taste in my mouth when the series took a turn for the worse about half to two thirds of the way into the series.
Gurren Lagann looked like an improvement. Konomini was a rather serious show, but TTGL is more of a comedy. I thought, they did so well with FLCL and what I saw of Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, so how could they possibly screw up another comedy?
Arr, there be Spoilers in the next paragraph.
It’s happened earlier than I thought, but with the removal of a certain character from the series and the entry of Nia, who I can’t stand, I can see this series heading for only one inevitable ending:

All aboard!
Anyway, bitching about Gainax’s failures at plot aside, there is still one reason this show isn’t quite in the bin yet.
This one took a while, and was pretty tricky in places, but I’m happy with it.
